Its true though ‘Florals For Spring, How Original’. If you pay close attention, the same patterns of trends come around again and again, with each changing season. Florals, Nautical’s, and Bright colour palettes for Spring/Summer are the usual suspects. If you want your money to go further you will practice what I like to call  ‘backward spending’. I always buy things in the sale that I know I will wear for the next season. For example: in January I noticed my Leather/Faux fur lined Winter Coat was starting to fall apart. So I waited until February when the End of Season sale was on and all the winter coats go into sale and ‘bam!’ sure enough I picked up a absolute bargain of a coat. I wore it for the next couple of months and now have put into to storage until next Autumn. This way you can always bag yourself a bargain and maybe just be able to buy those more pricey-er items that inevitably last you a bit longer, but you have not pay the full price tag. There’s a little tip I thought I would share with you all, to help us all be more mindful with our spending.

This dress from Zara literally smacked me in the face when I first clapped eyes on it – Stripes and Florals ‘oh come on!’ This dress speaks to me on soooo many levels. First its ankle length, Yes! No unnecessary Leg Shaving, Diagonal stripes, Which is flattering on all figures. Pretty shades of pink, lilac, lemon, mint green based on a off white background. The cut of the dress is cinched in at the waist, with a A-Line skirt with bags of billowing material which as you can see from the pictures I had such fun with!. I teamed this look with Flared Black Suit Trousers from Mango to show how versatile this dress could be. I will also be using it as a longline coat over a White Tee and Black Skinny Jeans. Also what about over a swimsuit or bikini while your lounging by the pool on holiday? Sooo many options, you just cant go wrong with this dress.

What a dress, four looks in one! Well worth the price tag. Are Florals your thing? Will you be wearing Florals this season? Let me know in the comments below. Also check out some other Floral dresses, Black Flared Trousers and Espadrilles that will get you in the Summer mood down below.

I think a good Breton Top is on most peoples No.1 List in the style stakes. I know personally, myself, I think I have worn some form of Breton Top most of my life! Stripes for a fact can be hard to pull off with especially horizontal stripes. It can make you look heavier than you really are, but I couldn’t give a monkeys uncle about that. Fashion rules sometimes just have to be ignored. Especially if you have a penchant for all things nautical!!. So let me tell you about this Breton Top I picked up recently from La Redoute. Now if you are a avid viewer of our YouTube channel (Click Here to have a gander) then its no secret that I have a Love Hate Relationship. I wont bore you with the details but lets just say items arrived SOOO late and I find the delivery absolutely rubbish. I failed to see in this day and age why items should need to take 7-10 working days to be delivered!! Who has time for that. Saying that, you can not deny the quality and uniqueness of their clothing. For me I can forgive rubbish delivery and just get over myself enough to place a order or two and just cultivate some patience while I eagerly wait by the door for said items.

This Breton top has bought much joy to me, as the softest of the material and cute little satin bow detail on the back just ticks all the boxes for me. As I was trying to channel my inner French Madam Look, I teamed it with my 7 For All Mankind Jeans and Marks and Spencer Metallic Backless Loafers for a laid back look. For added warmth to keep the chill off my kidneys I opted for my All Saints The Bales Leather Jacket just adds the je sais que for me.

Cue-lottes, culottes, however you say them, there is no denying that these trousers are my savior for Spring/Summer. I am not the kind of person who enjoys showing a lot of skin at one time, but as the warmer months are now upon us, wearing something that will keep you cool as well as maintaining your style is a must in my book, this is why a pair of culottes works well. For a fact no matter what height you are, you can get away with some kind of culotte. Just make sure of the length. If you are 5’7 you can get away with any length, if you are below, that then you need to consider the hem length. Too low and you can look frumpy, too high and it can throw proportions well off, make sure you consider these when thinking about your purchase.

Lets talk about these Culottes that I’m wearing in today’s post. Jazzy little number from Zara, that are lovely, light and flowy. Perfect for the Summer heat. I teamed them with a Denim shirt to give a bit of edge to the outfit, slung on a long line Blazer which is super flattering. A pair of Metallic Backless Loafers to add a little bit of fun to the outfit.

When I was looking through Pinterest yesterday (follow ours here) I have been pinning a lot of wide trousers looks or kick flare trousers to just detract from the daily Denim, which can suffocate my creative juices from time to time. It occurred to me that this look was familiar to me and then it hit me, I wore this exact look head to toe back in 1998. There I was only 17 years old, a mere whipper snapper, and I had just spent my entire weeks wages on a French Connection Denim Jacket from the local designer boutique, which was such a great fitting jacket back in the day. So there I was with my Jigsaw Black Wide Leg trousers, White tee and Nike Cortez. Im not so into Nike Cortez this time around, as I feel that they look cheap. I think its the sole that lets it down. So instead I have replaced these with my trusty Stan Smiths. This is one of the most comfortable, yet still feels smart enough to wear for the office or even doing the school run. The trousers mentioned here are from my recent Capsule Wardrobe series (click here for Inspo) I picked them up from Mango. They are a dead ringer for my old Jigsaw ones, those babies would of kept going had I not had actual babies and went up 3 dress sizes… moo!! Any who there is no good pinning over lost figures and make the most of the NEW figure you may of gained after doing your fair share in helping to populate the planet!

The outfit I’m wearing is a Denim Jacket I bought well over 3 years ago from HM. Its a classic, fitted style, with a White double pocket shirt from Zara, Stan smith trainers and the star of the show-Mango Kick Flare Suit trousers. I featured this recently in my How to Shop for a Capsule Wardrobe video and they are the longest trousers EVER!! so if your not 5’11 then you better know a good seamstress. Once you have overcome that hurdle the trousers just hug in all the right places and because it a concealed fastening at the front it really streamlines any hint of a food baby or in my case still hoofing around the old baby weight!!

Have a butchers below at some of my other picks to achieve this look.

How are we at Thursday already and more importantly April!! Its mad how we are now in full swing for Spring! While I have been musing on what fluid pieces to add to my wardrobe, I will be sharing this in the next couple weeks. I have been itching to add some more spring tones to my wardrobe and when I spotted these perfect babies from Topshop- Journey Patent Mary Jane Shoes these fitted the bill. I cannot begin to tell you how versatile these shoes are. They look great with jeans, Straight leg trousers, culottes, pencil skirt, and that is to name a few. Today I put them with my stepped Jeans from Topshop, Band tee from Primark. I finally found a band tee that I could get on board with Pink Floyd, what a band! My old faithful Kaleidoscope Faux Fur Jacket as it was a cool, crisp spring day, at this time of year most faux fur jackets have gone into the sale and you can pick yourself a real bargain and you may still get a months wear and pop it away to bring our for next Autumn/Winter. Admittedly the shoes do look Nude but they are more of a blush nude, so I have slightly dipped my toe into this current colour, which literally sends my inner tomboy screaming for the nearest tree to climb as I find the colour Pink just a bit too girly.

I hope you liked these recent purchase and if you want to know more about my journey with the whole Capsule Wardrobe, look out for my first video on this series on Sunday on our Youtube channel to learn all my tips and tricks on getting your perfect Spring Wardrobe together.

Hi Everyone I hope you have got through the first day of the week o.k. I must say the change in weather has got me chomping at the bit to start my Spring Wardrobe over haul, but I am restraining myself as you ‘never cast a clout until May is out’ or something like that!. With the glimpse of sun comes a little shuffle round in the outerwear department, and for me that means out comes the old faithful ‘Trench coat’. You really cannot go wrong with a Trench coat it is so versatile for so many occasions. The one im wearing is from Primark (similar here)! I bought it 2 years ago for £28 and its still going strong. Saying that though, at the end of the Summer I have my eye on a few more pricey Trench’s for when they go down in the Sale, as I’m not sure whether this one will see me through another Spring/Summer. This is what I called ‘backward spending’. I will talk more about this in future posts. As a Trench gives you that extra outer layer to protect you from a normal British down pour, but yet keeps you cool if that gorgeous sunshine comes a calling.

Will you be trying a Trench Coat this Spring? Let me know in the comments below. Also, have a goosey gander at the Trench Coats below that I have my beady eye on.

Hello Everyone Hope you are all having a good week so far. This is going to be the first in my Wearing Basics Series, and I thought I would start off with one of my faves- The White Shirt. One of my go-to places for a White Shirt is COS. If your not familiar with the brand, then I am not surprised because I only stumbled across them the beginning of last year when I was in London and then went back up North and found the nearest is in Manchester Selfridges as a concessesion. If you do manage to find one or feel brave enough to buy on line, I would definitely give them a go. The one I am wearing is called ‘The Shirt with the voluminous back’ I like how it is as it is a little bit different then the average white shirt. It has great detail.

The White shirt is a superb basic to have in your wardrobe as you can style in so many different ways, so if you spend a bit extra on a quality piece then cost per wear it works out to be a ‘saving’!! Maybe at some point in the future I will share how many ways I have found to style it. I am wearing the shirt this time with my faithful River Island Camel Culottes which I picked up last summer and my Zara Ankle boots, which I have to admit I am getting sooo bored of wearing boots and are just itching to crack out my NEW backless Loafers.

Let me know in the comments below whether you like a good White Shirt and what you will be wearing yours with? Have a nosey at some other White Shirts that I like.

Pleated Trousers

I know Spring talk already, but with the latest sunny spells we have been having in the UK. My mind has been turned to the excitement of all things new in nature and style. Its getting to that tricky transitional stage where I don’t want to buy anything new, so I have been re-shopping my own wardrobe to find new pieces again!. The pleated trousers that you see in the pictures were a panic buy when I had realized the week of a award ceremony that I had NOTHING to wear. I tore around our local TOPSHOP in a complete tizz and saw these and thought ‘O.k I can do something with this’ and lo and behold they have become a firm favorite in my wardrobe. Whether you are wanting to dress them up (see here in my vlog) or how I have styled them casually with a pair of Cons and a leather jacket. Sometimes these things are just meant to be!.

Thanks for reading guys and look out for Thursday when my BIG new Hair reveal video. In the meantime, the children are on half term so I will be a bit MIA. You can keep up to date by clicking on any of the links below.

Hey Everyone, I hope you have had a good weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead. If you have been reading my blog for a while you will remember this skirt back in August 2016, when I picked it up from Zara. I thought this would be a good illustration to show what works for your body shape, aaannnd what doesn’t. I love Maxi skirts, FACT- Maxi skirts do not love me. I know its sad, but if you look at the difference from my last blog post HERE you will see how wearing different styles can and cannot suit you. I am a Emotional dresser. When I wake up in the morning, I decide what I am going to wear to how I am feeling that day. I first realized I was like this when I was 19 years old. Back then I was working at TOPSHOP and part of being a Brand Manager, you had to work at other Stores to help out. I was sent to Manchester Trafford Center store, where I met Sophie. She was 26 years old and had a eccentric sense of dress. One day she was a Skater girl, next day she was Posh spice, then Boho chick with braided locks and a pair of Birken stocks to boot!! I just thought, ‘that is how I like to dress’ and from then on I have carried on being a Chameleon with my dress sense, not really following trends, but on what suits my body shape and how I feel on the day. Which is very detrimental to my bank balance, but hey I enjoy it.

So back to the outfit at hand, today I was feeling slightly Boho with a sniff of Biker chick with my boots and leather Jacket. Oh and the snugly Jumper cause its FREEZING!! As you can see Maxi skirts instantly add width to the hips and the thick long Jumper hides my curves and makes my shoulders look larger. Do I care? Not a jot, because I was feeling it at the time, but it may be the last time I wear it…for now!

Do you have items in your wardrobe that you feel dont suit you, but wear any way? Let me know in the comments below, as I would love to know your thoughts.
