Leather Ankle Boots

I hope you are enjoying the holidays? I am! I am certainly make use of my husband being off and taking a few moments to talk about one of my favorite purchases of 2016. I think its safe to say that last years Chelsea Boots have had their day, and its time for them to move over and allow the Leather Ankle Boot to take center stage. I love a Chelsea boot like the next girl, but a Ankle Boot will always have a special place in my heart. I remember my very first Black Leather Ankle boot was from Oasis and they were Victoriana trend which was strong in 2000-2001. They had a cute heel and laced up to just under the calf. Im not sure what happened to them, but when I caught sight of these boots from Zara it took me back to that period of time. These Leather High Heel Ankle boots are super comfy. The leather gives in all the right places and has great stitching detail along the toe and sides, finishing with a side zip. I styled it really simply with Black JDY Turtle Neck from ASOS, a pair of dark blue Denim Straight Leg Jeans from 7ForAllMankind. I hacked off about 7 inches and frayed the hem myself. They are six years old and I love doing things like that, personalizing old items and giving them a new lease of life. To finish off, my blazer of the moment, oversized Herringbone Blazer from Zara. I have been having a frenzy on styling these babies with the rest of the items in my wardrobe. They go with so many different items and change a whole look every time.

The Jumper or Sweater Dress

Happy Monday Guys!!.  I hope the week has started off well for you. Never Have I felt it more right now than the need to feel as ‘Snug As A Bug In A Rug’ with the fires lit and and the dark early evenings and mornings, my body and mind just need comfort, I think that resonates with a lot of us. So for me a Jumper dress gives me all the comfort and snug-ability (I know I make up a lot of words!) That I need for this time of year. This Dress I Picked up from Zara a few weeks ago, sadly it has completely sold out, but I do have some alternatives for you that I have been converting (similar). Believe or not this Jumper dress is a Small and it completely drowns my petite frame, but hides all the bits that I’m just not keen on. I paired it with these ‘oh so comfy’ Leather High Heel Ankle Boots from Zara ( I promise I don’t have shares in that place!!) to balance the bulkiness of the jumper. I also popped on my Bag of the moment from Camelia Roma Tracolla its really deceiving as it holds all my essentials when it is just me,myself, and I.

One Party Dress Styled 3 Ways- Ft Kaleidoscope

The Challenge

Today I am highlighting a gorgeous dress from Kaleidoscope.  They challenged me to be able to style it 3 ways. Well, if you have been reading my blog for a while you will know I cannot resist a challenge.  I chose the Animal Print Velvet Dress to use as my basis.  Animal Print and velvet being key trends this season and I thought it would be easier with my style. The dress is a stretchy velour which drapes around the body elegantly. With its rauching around the tummy which flatters, if you are hiding a wee food baby or if like me its actually where you carry your weight, then this dress is a winner. If that wasn’t enough, to top it off, the sleeves are the right length (below the elbow) to hide any fear of bingo wings making appearance.

My first look is My Go to Work Look and I popped on a Leatherette Pencil skirt from ASOS, here I wish I had worn tights, but just forgot all about them, until I rushed out the door and the icy blast hit them and turned them a rather unattractive shade of blue! I popped on my Carvela Court shoes and my Jaeger Wool Wrap Camel Coat to keep it all very fancy!!

Second Look is My Play Day Look. This look I feel is perfect a Mummy day. I teamed the dress with a warm snugly Red Jumper from HM (last year, Similar) which kept me warm, but also went well with the animal print. I also put on thick black tights and 90’s Buckled, Biker chunky boots from New Look which are perfect for running around the park.  For outerwear I teamed it with my All Saints Bales Leather Jacket to finish the look.

Third Look is the final, My Night Out Look which the dress just holds its own. I teamed this with my &other Stories Red Snake effect Sandals and Weekday Clutch Bag which is perfect to size to fit your bits and bobs for a night out. Once again, I whipped out the Jaegar Wool Wrap Camel Coat which I am hammering this season as it goes with EVERYTHING!

Well Hello there! We are nearly at the end of the week and I have to say I am looking forward to this week being over!. Today I have a little review of a fantastic new company that is launching 1st December, its called Uncloset. The concept is genius and when they contacted me to take part in their trials I was intrigued on how it was going to work. So, here is the skinny. The crux of it, is that for a monthly subscription fee you can get your paws on some really coveted high end luxury bags on a regular basis. “What!” I hear you say,” hows that possible??” If you are anything like me and love all things luxe, but your budget just doesn’t stretch to that or your conscience doesn’t allow you to spend that kind of money when you have other priorities in life, like feeding and clothing your family, saving for a house or just that you know you will like the bag now but maybe not in a years time. This is the service for you. My Old Faithful – The Leather Jacket

I thought I would start a series on my take of what is a wardrobe essential to me. First to kick things off is the old faithful- The Leather Jacket.

To me the Leather Jacket can be something of a icon statement piece or just blend into the background of a fierce outfit. No matter how rubbish you may be feeling that day, slipping on a Leather Jacket and a statement lipstick, you are then ready to take on the world so to speak!. My chosen Leather Jacket is the Bales piece from All Saints. I thought long and hard about this purchase, as for me its a lot of money to spend on myself with so many mouths to feed! If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that the last Leather Jacket I bought was over 18 years and was woefully in need of an up grade so I felt it was justified!.

I chose this style because all the others seemed a little bulky on my small frame and I did look like a mitchelin man wearing them!. The Bales is a soft Lamb Leather (sorry!) I know for some this does not sit well, but for me if I am going to eat it, I should not be fussy about wearing it. It is slim line and has a double buckle on the collar. It has zip details on the cuffs which really helps when you are wearing a thick hoody or knit underneath to allow some well needed ventilation!.

Don’t get me wrong, you can get some cracking faux Leather Jackets on the high street for a fraction of the price. Also for what I paid for one Jacket you could buy at least 3 good quality copies. For me, I am into this whole minimal, less in the Wardrobe, investing in quality pieces malarkey! Pointed Ballet Lace up Pumps

Hey Everyone as we are now finished with summer and you can really feel the air thinning in the UK. I am desperately trying to get the last of my wear with my Pointed Lace Up Ballet Pumps before they go into retirement for the Winter months. With Miu Miu bringing out their gorgeous ballet Pumps and Zara bringing out a fantastic lookie – likey they have never been so sought after.

I teamed my ballet Pumps, (which I bought in the sale from Zara in January this year) with a pair of crop camel culottes from River Island (old) Similar, Guipure Bib Front white blouse from Zara, my all time fave Black Leather Bales Jacket from All Saints and the sooo beautiful Amazona Loewe bag from Uncloset. In this soft Pastel Pink which is perfect for this season.

I have worn these to death, and to be fair they could do with a spit and polish before they go into hibernation. So with a heavy heart I will complete the task and put these babies to bed for another year.

Tie-Dye Accordion Pleated Skirt

A couple of weeks ago I welcomed to my wardrobe family this stunning Tie-Dye Accordion Pleated Skirt from Zara. This Mermaid wash Lace Skirt caught my eye while I was walking past Zara in Liverpool and it just spoke to me. I’m always a sucker for a good maxi skirt but the Autumnal colours and Lace combined, I thought it would be a great transitional piece.

The Dilemma

So here was my dilemma, its a glorious afternoon, the weather says it will rain for the next 4 days.  I have 20 mins to take these photos as I have a hair appointment after, so my hair is tied up. I also couldn’t find my Charcoal V- top that I had bought to go with the skirt, which is more flattering for the fuller bust kinda of girl. Drat!! So I thought I would plough on regardless. I think the photos turned out o.k but not styled as I would of like, hey-ho cant have everything.

You could style it now with sandals or a pair Birkenstock’s  for a relaxed day look. Add a pair of mules for nighttime or like I styled mine with Tan Chelsea boots from Wallis to show how they are perfect for Autumn and boy am I ready for it!!.

Don’t you just love it when you pull out one of your favourite dresses and a light bulb goes off in your head, ‘why not wear it like this’. With a flash you have got yourself a whole new look without even spending any pennies. This is what happened to me the other day. I was planning what to wear the night before ( I have to otherwise I would look like a bag of washing as I am everyone else personal stylist,hairdresser,maid,cook,cleaner,and the list goes on, that I don’t have time to think about me) and it hit me to team this together.

I bought this dress from Miss Guided last year and just wore as the purpose intended, as a dress. I love when an old fave can be re-used and look and feel completely different. I teamed with all my favourites blazer,loafers, comfort dressing with a little bit of oomph that my Miss Guided stripe shirt dress gives me.

As anyone in our industry are well aware Wedding Season is in full swing, and it got me thinking that we are always harping on about what the Bride will wear,and bow she looks, but what about the Guests?? I know at my wedding I really loved  that my guests wore hats and seemed to of really “gone to town” as it were, with their outfits. It made me feel as the Bride, that all my preparations were not in vain. Maybe your not looking for a wedding, but you need something for a special occasion that you have coming up. I think I can help with that.

Recently, & Other Stories opened up a branch in Manchester city centre. You could here the cheers around when they finally opened their doors!. That now us Northerners can now have the opportunity to shop at another stylish store. This is a new brand to me, but it was its mix of fast fashion with strong tailoring, that drew my eye to this brand.  Its collections are designed by ateliers in Paris and Stockholm. Quality really is the buzz word here coming at a affordable price, so when they opened in Manchester I could not resist a sneak peek.

My Special Occasion Choice

The outfit I chose is very much my signature style. Not alot of flesh on show to cause offence, but always a glimpse of some skin, so as not to look to prudish. This dress fits the bill. The Open back dress is such a stylish number. The fit and quality of the fabric really makes it a comfy garment. With its bat winged sleeves keeping wobbly arms under wraps. The fastening around the waist to highlight and make your waist appear smaller than it is. This dress makes me feel sophisticated and ready for my special occasion.

I teamed it with & Other Stories new range of shoes and bag. I have been looking for a comfortable yet stylish sandal for a while and these Croco-Embossed Almond Toe Sandals are right up my street. The Croco effect seems to feature heavily in the New season shoes and bags. Which for me is a bonus as then they are more forgiving to scuffs and scrapes. The wooden block heels gives a nice height but also feels incredibly comfy too wear. I chose them in red, as I have not found a red pair of shoes for along time that floated my boat. I am always looking to inject a little colour into my wardrobe from time to time. That’s where the colour theme stops, because the bag I chose is Black. This bag is a cross body bag but I have made it into a clutch so you can see how versatile it is. The Croco Cross Body bag is a welcome member to my bag family and is already getting a hammering, I cant stop wearing it!! It fits in everything a girl needs for the day.

I think you can see I am thoroughly impressed with & Other Stories and I will be keeping my beady eye out for Autumn/Winter 16. With Coachella heralding the start of Festival season, many are deciding what festival to attend and what comes to most women’s lips ‘What am I going to wear?’  Then there’s me, not the most outdoorsy type, festivals always seemed a place where you looked your worst, by not washing for 2 days!.  Now things are so much more civilised and there are more festivals geared up for just healthy living like the Wilderness Festival and Unplugged Festival. This is more my stamp, so it got me thinking, what would I wear should the occasion arrive?, and like a bolt of lightning, while standing in the queue at my local Marks and Spencer on a Saturday afternoon  dragging my pre-pubescent daughter around looking for some new summer wear. This dress called to me. Hanging there in all its floral glory.  It’s Marks and Spencer Floral Printed Maxi Dress, the fabric is soft and hangs beautifully not clinging to any lumps and bumps, it is so flattering if you are on the busty side too!. It’s a steal at just £39.50 and to me the 70’s floral print is something that will not go out of fashion, so i’ts a great key piece to add to my capsule wardrobe.
