I accessorised my hair with the beautiful Headband from Lily and Rose. This is a stunning piece of jewellery, the Miranda Hairband Crystal sliver toned brass with swarovski Crystals. It is finished with a velvet ribbon which makes it so easy to style in different ways. It also helps to feel really comfortable so it would be perfect to wear all day.

As anyone in our industry are well aware Wedding Season is in full swing, and it got me thinking that we are always harping on about what the Bride will wear,and bow she looks, but what about the Guests?? I know at my wedding I really loved that my guests wore hats and seemed to of really “gone to town” as it were, with their outfits. It made me feel as the Bride, that all my preparations were not in vain. Maybe your not looking for a wedding, but you need something for a special occasion that you have coming up. Recently, & Other Stories opened up a branch in Manchester city centre. You could here the cheers around when they finally opened their doors!. That now us Northerners can now have the opportunity to shop at another stylish store. This is a new brand to me, but it was its mix of fast fashion with strong tailoring, that drew my eye to this brand. Its collections are designed by ateliers in Paris and Stockholm. Quality really is the buzz word here coming at a affordable price, so when they opened in Manchester I could not resist a sneak peek.

My Special Occasion Choice
The outfit I chose is very much my signature style. Not alot of flesh on show to cause offence, but always a glimpse of some skin, so as not to look to prudish. This dress fits the bill. The Open back dress is such a stylish number. The fit and quality of the fabric really makes it a comfy garment. With its bat winged sleeves keeping wobbly arms under wraps. The fastening around the waist to highlight and make your waist appear smaller than it is. This dress makes me feel sophisticated and ready for my special occasion.

I teamed it with & Other Stories new range of shoes and bag. I have been looking for a comfortable yet stylish sandal for a while and these Croco-Embossed Almond Toe Sandals are right up my street. The Croco effect seems to feature heavily in the New season shoes and bags. Which for me is a bonus as then they are more forgiving to scuffs and scrapes. The wooden block heels gives a nice height but also feels incredibly comfy too wear. I chose them in red, as I have not found a red pair of shoes for along time that floated my boat. I am always looking to inject a little colour into my wardrobe from time to time. That’s where the colour theme stops, because the bag I chose is Black. This bag is a cross body bag but I have made it into a clutch so you can see how versatile it is. The Croco Cross Body bag is a welcome member to my bag family and is already getting a hammering, I cant stop wearing it!! It fits in everything a girl needs for the day.

With Coachella heralding the start of Festival season, many are deciding what festival to attend and what comes to most women’s lips ‘What am I going to wear?’ Then there’s me, not the most outdoorsy type, festivals always seemed a place where you looked your worst, by not washing for 2 days!. Now things are so much more civilised and there are more festivals geared up for just healthy living like the Wilderness Festival and Unplugged Festival. This is more my stamp, so it got me thinking, what would I wear should the occasion arrive?, and like a bolt of lightning, while standing in the queue at my local Marks and Spencer on a Saturday afternoon dragging my pre-pubescent daughter around looking for some new summer wear. This dress called to me. Hanging there in all its floral glory. It’s Marks and Spencer Floral Printed Maxi Dress, the fabric is soft and hangs beautifully not clinging to any lumps and bumps, it is so flattering if you are on the busty side too!. It’s a steal at just £39.50 and to me the 70’s floral print is something that will not go out of fashion, so i’ts a great key piece to add to my capsule wardrobe.

I will be the first to admit to being a little on the short side the thought of wearing a ankle grazing pant fills me with dread. Until I came across these Camel coloured Culottes from River Island. The soft fabric,the billowing leg,the beautiful camel colour just had me. These trousers are so comfy and versatile I knew they were going to be a key piece to my wardrobe.
I thought if you were like me and want to get the most out of the items you purchase then I wanted to share the Three ways I have styled these culottes. Takes you from comfy casual to work then to hot mama look for a evening out.
My first choice would be something I would wear for work, out for drinks or a shopping trip.

With Spring now banging at the door the shade Pink and a SKIRT has begun to creep back into my Wardrobe. The shade Pink was always a colour I feared most when growing up. I was always fighting the cause of not being a girly girl, and was more into climbing trees and making ropes swings, so PINK to me, was just not doing it for me. Then fast forward to my wedding. Here I was going to make one of the most important decisions of my life, No, not saying YES that was a given (he is a Hairdresser, what is there not to love) but what will be my colour theme for the up and coming nuptials. There it was winking at me and not to be the one to follow the crowd I blurted out “its going to be PINK.” My florist just starred, and said “but Pink hasn’t been done for years” I knew then I had made the right choice.
Back to the present and last summer I purchased this little Gem from George @Asda. When Autumn arrived I stored it away as lace always comes around every Spring/Summer, I knew it was a keeper. So here we are and low and behold Pink is back, and so is Lace. With this in mind I thought I would put together 3 ways of wearing this great skirt.

Spring Capsule Wardrobe
Finally, we have had a run of sunnier days and dare I say the temperature even went into double figures. It was time to update my Spring Capsule Wardrobe. Although, it is still not warm enough to be putting jumpers away yet. It would be the perfect time to go on the hunt for those pieces to take you through the transitional period.

My first piece I was looking for was a light weight Jacket. I picked this long blazer up from the core collection in Zara. Its such a flattering style, with it being a longer shape. It is also lightweight and so versatile. I have been able to team this Jacket with lots of different outfits. It works well for work wear, teamed with cigarette pants or a pair culottes, pencil skirt, a Jumpsuit, or casual it up with Jeans, Joggers and my personal favourite leatherette leggings. It is also such a gorgeous light grey colour, so it really can work with any other colours.
My next item I chose to update my spring capsule wardrobe with are these Embossed Nude slippers from Zara. I did quite well in Zara this shopping trip. I was in the market for something loafer come slipper type, flat and comfort was key. It was by fluke I saw these kind of shoved under one of the tables in Zara. They fit like a glove, sooo comfy and as they are nude they are a welcomed addition to my wardrobe.

There seems to be a running theme, with comfort being at the forefront. I wanted to update my spring capsule wardrobe with a white pair of trainers. These are perfect Adidas Stan Smiths Snakeskin to throw on with any outfit and I mean any. You cannot go wrong with a pair of trainers. I knew I would have to step back into my teenage years and repurchase another pair of Stan Smiths. Back in the 90’s when Brit pop was at the fore, think The Spice Girls, Oasis and Blur sporting their Adidas Gazelles as these were the trainer of the moment. Oh the memories!! I digress lets get back to the topic. These trainers have an in built cushion which makes them super comfy on the first wear. The Snakeskin print just gives the trainer that extra edge. These are just perfect for Spring/Summer.

My last piece was a little impulsive, but when you see these you need to snap it up. I wanted a dress like this last summer but alas could not find one, although i was lusting after the Novem & Knight version but it kept being sold out. So when I clapped my eyes on this in H&M I could not pass it by. For a fraction of the price of others I had seen, I snapped this up for just £20!. It is the kind of dress that you can team with anything!. Dress it up with some nude heels and a Blazer for dinner or dress it down with a slouchy cardigan and some trainers and your good to go.

It came to my attention recently that a pair of good black jeans is a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. My quest for the ideal black Jean was not going well is an understatement! Since having my children my body shape has changed considerably. With that in mind I have had to really think about what style I need to get. So here is my dilemma I have skinny legs, small hips but I have a jelly belly! I’m not ashamed to admit that my stomach could do with a little attention. I have had three children and three C-Sections in the last eight years. What can I say it’s a work in progress, but for now it’s with me and I have to take it into consideration when purchasing any of my clothes to make sure they work for me.
The Hunt For The Best Jeans Ever
Over the last few years I have bought three pairs of Black Jeans and each time they loose their shape or fade and they are always so long! Even when I have bought a 30 ins length they are still a good 3 ins too long. So after wasting all that money I decided enough is enough I will spend a little more and get something that will last. This is where I turn too a brand that I have been wearing for over 20 years. It is one of my favourite Jeans maker, Levis. Over the years Levi always seems to evolve and move with the fast pace of fashion and keep bringing great pieces over, and over again. I was visiting Manchester and decided today would be the day to take the plunge. Now by no stretch of the imagination this is not a eye watering sum of money, but for me to splurge any amount on myself when you have a family is hard to curb the ‘mum guilt’.
Found Best Jeans Ever
When I tried on the Jeans I knew that these were the one, Levis 711 Skinny Jeans. They are tight but comfy, stretchy but when you bend there are no imprints left in the knees. The material is soft and thick and very robust. They flatter and hold all day long. The science bit is the material contains 1% Elastane. Elastane is a synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity. Elastane thus is a prerequisite for fashionable or functional apparel such as supportive underwear which is intended to cling to the body, while at the same time remaining comfortable. So we could say that these Jeans are like a Spandex for your bottom, thighs and legs!!. They truly are “The Best Jeans Ever”. If that wasn’t enough, Levi’s also offer a in house alterations service. So my jeans could be fitted to my ideal leg length.

January Sales Picks
I have finally got round to writing about My January Sales Picks. If you play your cards right and do your homework before you go shopping in the sales, you are guaranteed to get in and get out in one piece! I have been formulating a capsule wardrobe for a while, so I have a list of items of clothes that I would like to add and these two were way up the top of my list.

My first January Sales Picks is this gorgeous Faux Fur Gilet from George @ Asda (similar). It was in the sale and when I tried it on it felt RIGHT. I was looking for a Gilet to wear for those occasions when a big old thick coat would just hinder you. For example clothes shopping, I don’t know whether it is an unspoken rule that retailers have (it certainly wasn’t back in my day ) to have the changing rooms at a tropical mid 90deg! I regularly get hot and irritable when this happens and I think it just ruins the experience, especially if it’s valuable baby free time. So the Gilet is perfect for this as you can pop it on and still have the warmth but it’s light enough, and with it being sleeveless they act like air vents allowing air to flow freely. Great little piece that will take you through to Spring.

The Rucksack
I teamed this outfit with a Navy Fedora from H&M (similar) , black skinny jeans from Primark, Bardot Boots from Topshop and a navy polar neck from Zara. Oh yeah and The Rucksack. This is my second January Sale Pick. This is such a different direction for me but it makes you feel alive if you try something that scares you each day. O.k maybe that saying wasn’t applying to bags, but to get the idea. This bag made me feel like I was a teenager again. When I bought the ‘baby home’ my husband and I had a full blown discussion on how we would have held the bag back in the day. One strap over one shoulder, holding by the top handle and my favourite towards the end of my time at High School, both straps on both shoulders! This bag made so much sense to me now as I had been using a more constructed bag of late, but couldn’t fit hardly anything in it. I have also got rid of the baby’s bag a few months ago and replaced it with a Peppa Pig, which the bubs loves, but I am not down with carrying a dressed pig about!. So I thought a Rucksack would give me enough space to fit my stuff and his juice cup nappy and wipes. This Rucksack is from Marks and Spencer their Autograph range which comes out with a few simple, well made staple pieces, and this is one of them. Real leather and has gold hardware, simple but effective. Sadly they have sold out but I have put a similar one here.

The Fleck Marl Joggers
My final January Sales Picks is these ‘smart’ Joggers. I have been looking for these for about 9 months now, when I found this pair which took me by surprise where I found them. They are from Marks and Spencer Lounge wear! Yes they are Pyjamas!! They are a Fleck Grey Marl with a black waist band and black ankle cuffs. They are so comfy, obviously! but throw a pair of heels and a suit jacket and you are good for work. Put them with hi tops and a leather jacket as (seen above) or even a pair of shoe boots would work well too. I love these because they are so versatile. These are also out of stock but I found a great alternative here.
