With Spring now banging at the door the shade Pink and a SKIRT has begun to creep back into my Wardrobe. The shade Pink was always a colour I feared most when growing up. I was always fighting the cause of not being a girly girl, and was more into climbing trees and making ropes swings, so PINK to me, was just not doing it for me. Then fast forward to my wedding. Here I was going to make one of the most important decisions of my life, No, not saying YES that was a given (he is a Hairdresser, what is there not to love) but what will be my colour theme for the up and coming nuptials. There it was winking at me and not to be the one to follow the crowd I blurted out “its going to be PINK.” My florist just starred, and said “but Pink hasn’t been done for years” I knew then I had made the right choice.
Back to the present and last summer I purchased this little Gem from George @Asda. When Autumn arrived I stored it away as lace always comes around every Spring/Summer, I knew it was a keeper. So here we are and low and behold Pink is back, and so is Lace. With this in mind I thought I would put together 3 ways of wearing this great skirt.

As I sit down to write this blog, I have a rather large grin on my face as this is my favourite subject to speak about- MASCARAS. To say I have a little obsession about Mascaras is a big fat understatement! I decided to share My Top 5 Drugstore/Affordable Mascaras, as the Luxury ones have their place but there are so many good affordable ones out there, why spend so much!
Maybelline Falsies Mascara
My first one is Maybelline the Falsies Volume Mascara 7.99 such a cult classic, this must be my third one I am onto. I would say I have normal length lashes and thickness, it contains Keratin which builds and when I apply this it really gives volume and length. My lashes look remarkable like I am wearing a subtle flash lash. For the price point I would give it a whirl if you are in the market.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
My second mascara is Maybelline Lash sensational 7.99. Another Maybelline but these guys just know how to make affordable products well. Our first Layer-Reveal Brush captures even the tiniest lashes and volumises the look of longer lashes for a layered, multiplied lash look. Now for me this Mascara is all about the brush it has layers to it so it captures even the tiniest lashes which helps to volumize and lengthen.
Max factor False Lash Effect Mascara
My Third Mascara is Max factor False Lash Effect 10.99. I stumbled across this at our local Boots. It was on offer and when something say ‘False Lash Effect’ I am hooked. The first thing you notice when you open the mascara is the smell. To say it smells a bit chemically is an understatement! If you can get past the smell and take a look at the brush head it has tiny little spikes that are small at one end and get longer and longer as it gets towards the end. This is a neat design because when you wiggle the brush at the root towards the tips it will coat every lash to give that fuller lash effect. This is another great formulation and brush combo that is something I have bought time and time again.
Loreal Telescopic Mascara
My fourth mascara is the L’ Oreal False Lash Telescopic 10.99. I think by now you can see a running theme, I LOVE False Lash Mascaras. It is because these particular formulation+brush head all seem to tick the right boxes. The brush head once again has these little spikes on. This head though is long and has a square, flatter edge to it. I found that this mascara did the same as the others but the longer brush just worked better for me as I have bigger eyes so that it covered more of my lashes than the Max Factor one. Once again the smell is a little offensive but to me it just a minor thing in my opinion.
My fifth and final mascara is Rimmel Accelerator Endless Mascara Growth Lash Complex 7.99. There is more to this mascara than meets the eye. The brush itself is different, Rimmel’s advanced ultra lengthening formula delivers up to 80% longer looking lashes instantly. Used daily over 30 days, our innovative Grow-Lash Complex helps to strengthen, renew and nourish lashes, promoting natural lash growth to create lashes that appear fuller, lusher and up to 117% longer. So this is what the mascara boasts it does and it DOES! I have noticed over the time of using this mascara that my lashes were slightly longer and suffered less breakage. The brush head is similar to Max Factor False Lash Effect but just a little longer. I use this mainly for my lower lashes as it grabs even the tiniest lash and will pop this on to strengthen my top lashes.
So there you go, My Five Favourite Drugstore/Affordable Mascaras. Have you tried any of these? Or do you have any other affordable mascaras that you think I might like to try? Please let me know in the comments below, I would love to hear from you.

Kiehls Hydro-plumping, Re-texturizing Serum Concentrate, Kiehls Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream and Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate
After a recent trip to Edinburgh, I was on the hunt for a new face moisturiser, as I was literally “scrapping the barrel” of my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream. On my travels, I stumbled across Kiehls UK. I have read and heard so many good things about their products, so I was intrigued to see how it would work out for me. When you first enter Kiehls, you are warmly welcomed by their friendly staff. I wanted help as I was astounded by their range of products. I was sat down and given a drink and the friendly Consultant went through a Skincare Consultation. Asking about tightness, firmness, and hydration. After about 15 minute chat she then did a skin test and she had decided what skin type I was, she then picked out products that would work for my skin type and that suited my lifestyle.
Kiehls Hydro-plumping, Re-texturizing Serum Concentrate, Kiehls Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream and Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Serum
The first was Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate. Now the price point on this at £40 ‘ouch’ you may think, but Serums are a big deal. I have used many Drug store alternatives which have been good, but not like this. If you want to spend a little bit more in your skincare then a serum is where you will see a difference. This serum is very powerful stuff. I have been using this for 4 weeks now and I really can see a difference. My skin feels plumper, and I have noticed that around my eyes the fines lines that you get from squinting (Note to self, really need to wear glasses more) are less. You can also use it as a under eye serum, which for me is just a bonus to be smoothing it around the eyes without bothering to use or buy another product. It also makes my skin feel more radiant, which is much needed with the ravages of winter and a toddler who has had a stinking cold for the past week and feels its fun to wake me up on the hour every hour!
My next product that I purchased is the Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream as this is what I really went in for, A new face moisturiser. The sales assistant felt this would be better, but “its a gel” I exclaimed. I do not like gel formula as in the past I do not feel they are hydrating enough, and my skin always felt tight. I had no need to worry, as she was RIGHT. when applied to the skin it is instantly refreshes as it feels cool to the touch. I feel that it literally drench my skin with moisture. It sinks in quickly and I could then apply my Primer quickly without it feeling sticky. Great for when you are in a rush in the mornings.
Kiehls Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream
Facial Oil
My last product which I will readily hold my hands up, was a impulse buy, in my defense I had read and heard so much hype about this product that once I smelt it, I thought I will have to give this a whirl. Its the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Enriched with Squalane, Evening Primrose Oil, Omega-6 Fatty Acids and Essential Oils including Lavender, the formula provides a boost of intensive moisture to dehydrated skin. This product lives up to its name as it works between midnight and 4am, when the skin is adept at absorbing ingredients. The first impression of this product is the smell, when you open the bottle. Lavender hits you with its relaxing aroma. Putting a few drops in the palm of your hand and then press your hands together and then inhale the lavender. You then press onto your cheeks, forehead and chin, like you are caring for a delicate antique. Then go from the base of the neck with upward strokes.
It has quickly become a bedtime ritual and it sets you up for a restful night sleep. In the morning you do notice that your skin is noticeably well rested and their is a plumpness to the skin. I totally understand why this is a bit hit as you see instant results.

So there you have my experience at Kiehls. I really enjoyed being spoilt, and my face being massaged with all manner of lotion and potions, but what the sales assistant was telling me made sense and has worked for me. If you are passing a Kiehls why not pop in and have a experience yourself.
These are my Skincare essentials, what are yours? Tell me in the comments below, I would love to hear from you.

Spring Capsule Wardrobe
Finally, we have had a run of sunnier days and dare I say the temperature even went into double figures. It was time to update my Spring Capsule Wardrobe. Although, it is still not warm enough to be putting jumpers away yet. It would be the perfect time to go on the hunt for those pieces to take you through the transitional period.
Zara long grey blazer Topshop green jumper Levis Zara Embossed Nude Slippers
My first piece I was looking for was a light weight Jacket. I picked this long blazer up from the core collection in Zara. Its such a flattering style, with it being a longer shape. It is also lightweight and so versatile. I have been able to team this Jacket with lots of different outfits. It works well for work wear, teamed with cigarette pants or a pair culottes, pencil skirt, a Jumpsuit, or casual it up with Jeans, Joggers and my personal favourite leatherette leggings. It is also such a gorgeous light grey colour, so it really can work with any other colours.
My next item I chose to update my spring capsule wardrobe with are these Embossed Nude slippers from Zara. I did quite well in Zara this shopping trip. I was in the market for something loafer come slipper type, flat and comfort was key. It was by fluke I saw these kind of shoved under one of the tables in Zara. They fit like a glove, sooo comfy and as they are nude they are a welcomed addition to my wardrobe.
Primark White Shirt, H&M Denim Jacket,Jaegar Camel Coat and Zara Nude slippers
There seems to be a running theme, with comfort being at the forefront. I wanted to update my spring capsule wardrobe with a white pair of trainers. These are perfect Adidas Stan Smiths Snakeskin to throw on with any outfit and I mean any. You cannot go wrong with a pair of trainers. I knew I would have to step back into my teenage years and repurchase another pair of Stan Smiths. Back in the 90’s when Brit pop was at the fore, think The Spice Girls, Oasis and Blur sporting their Adidas Gazelles as these were the trainer of the moment. Oh the memories!! I digress lets get back to the topic. These trainers have an in built cushion which makes them super comfy on the first wear. The Snakeskin print just gives the trainer that extra edge. These are just perfect for Spring/Summer.
Primark Aztec Cardy, H&M Black longsleeve Top, Levis 712, and Adidas Stan Smiths SnakePrimarkmark Aztec Cardy, H&M Black Longsleeve top, Levis and Adidas Stan Smiths
My last piece was a little impulsive, but when you see these you need to snap it up. I wanted a dress like this last summer but alas could not find one, although i was lusting after the Novem & Knight version but it kept being sold out. So when I clapped my eyes on this in H&M I could not pass it by. For a fraction of the price of others I had seen, I snapped this up for just £20!. It is the kind of dress that you can team with anything!. Dress it up with some nude heels and a Blazer for dinner or dress it down with a slouchy cardigan and some trainers and your good to go.

It was a year ago today, that I started writing my blog. My blog has changed so much over the last 12 months, from being just a hobby to now a great job. Don’t get me wrong I am not rolling in it, but things are building nicely and growing at a manageable rate. I first started my blog out of necessity. I was pregnant with my third child and had a few complications where I had to rest alot towards the end of my pregnancy. With this given relaxing period I began to read blogs. This was a real eye opener to me as I know blogging had been around for a while, but to me it had just passed me by. Once I had my third child and the first year of lack of sleep and feeding, changing and sleeping routine was down, I quickly got back to my guilty pleasure – reading blogs.
The When to start a Blog
Then one day I realized I could do this. It would give me a outlet, a bit of escapism to talk about Make up, Beauty, and Fashion things that are the ‘little Cherry on top’ not life and death stuff, after all I had worked in fashion for 10 years and have been a Make up Artist for the last 3 years. I felt I could offer another view on things. So I joined blogspot and set up my blog and the rest you can say is history. Here we are 75 posts later and I feel once again that my blog is evolving. In the beginning I didnt want to blog about the obvious by being a mummy blogger, because for me, I was writing my blog to escape the daily grind of being a mother. I soon realized as the demands of motherhood changed, I have become more relaxed and open to maybe talk more about how I juggle my family and work. Tips and tricks on how to get quick hair and make up when you are always in a hurry, and the last person to worry about on your list. In October of last year I decided to change to WordPress and go to a .com. So now I enter a new phase of my blog morphing into to something different from what I thought it was going to be.
I look forward to where it will be in months to come and I hope you will carry on the journey with me. Thank you so much if you have been reading my blog for a while, and if its your first time then I hope you will keep coming back.
I would love to hear from you if you write blog, why do you write your blog? Has it changed from when you first started it? Or why do you read blogs? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

As we have hit March, I am ready to switch up my make up to a more fresh, glowy, pretty pinks and nudes. This is my second video, and I decided to do a Spring, Easy, Natural Makeup Tutorial. I hope you enjoy it as I really enjoyed creating it. Let me know what products you will be switching too to embrace Spring.
In my profession the quest for a great Primer is always there. When I received this one in the post from Motives Cosmetics to say I was keen to crack it open was an under statement. Never heard of Motives Cosmetics? Let me fill you in. Loren Ridinger founded Motives Cosmetics back in 2008, her aim was to provide women with the highest quality cosmetics at affordable prices. With this great formula it is no wonder that Motives Cosmetics has become an award-winning, social media favourite and must-have brand. With these kind of credentials, I was very excited in trying any of their make up to see what the hype was about.
Motives Face Perfecting Primer
The Perfecting Face Primer is a clear formula which leaves a satin finish to the skin. The formula is brilliant if you are a oily girl as one of the ingredients it contains is Silica, which helps to absorb oil. This is perfect to control the oil slick as it absorbs excess oils and minimises the appearance of pores. It also fills and softens any fine lines and slight imperfections you may have to give that soft focus kind of look to the skin. It does the usual things like preventing your make up from fading, and I felt I needed less foundation, as it helps to spread the foundation more evenly.
Now this is where most primers finish, but not this one. In the formula it contains Sodium Hyaluronate, the result of this ingredient is that it leads to a slight swelling of the skin that reduces the appearance of wrinkles. The intense moisturisation does allow for the skin to operate at higher capacity to provide a better defence against environmental assaults and other ageing effects. I thought I would insert some selfies of me wearing the primer under my foundation to show how smooth and flawless it makes the skin.

In the time it has taken for me to trial this product and then give a full review, Motives Cosmetics got in contact to say that they were repackaging the Primer and changing the name but not the formula. At this point I had been trialling the product for over four weeks, so it shows that I like to take my time over a product before I give my opinion on it. When you click on the link it will show a beautiful royal blue packaging and the name will read Complexion Perfection Face Primer, with all the same wonderfulness in it.
So, if you are in the market for a new primer then give this a go. It is priced at the middle of the market at £18, but for the quality and the quantity you receive I think it is worth the money. Why not take a look at their website Motives Cosmetics UK for more great products.
